Why timing helps.
Flexible tasks like EV charging or a dishwasher do not always need to start immediately. Switch Hour checks each available start time that still meets your deadline, totals the forecast emissions over the full run, and selects the lowest result.
01
Real grid signal
California uses CEC MIDAS / WattTime’s five-minute marginal emissions forecast. Great Britain and London use NESO’s half-hour average grid intensity forecast. These measure different things; the result explains which is in use.
02
A fair comparison
The app assumes the same total kWh and even power use in both windows. It compares the forecast, not your entire household footprint or actual measured savings.
03
Your choice, your schedule
It never controls your device. Add the suggested time to your calendar if it works for you.
